Encouraging Individualism
Ms. Butterfield was the best principle I think I could’ve had at that age. She encouraged everything I ever wanted to do within the boundaries of creative outlets. She made it very clear that at the end of each day, even if everything went wrong, you still learned from each and every experience you had. She taught me that learning doesn’t really stop in the classroom. She encouraged individualism, and I think she really helped me get out of my shell in middle school. She went above and beyond to help me with any problems I had and to help mold me into the knowledge-seeking person I am today. I would definitely go back and do it all again if I had the chance.
Gwen Vartdal
Gwen Vartdal was a student of Ms. Butterfield for many years. When I first spoke to her about her learning experience with Ms. Butterfield she became very eager to share many wonderful stories that appeared to have meant a lot to her. Gwen now looks forward to joining the class of 2024 at Florida Atlantic University. Although she may be entering a new chapter of her life, Gwen looks back admiringly at the major role that Ms. Butterfield played in showing her the beauty of individuality and education.
